- Fatima Batul Kaya, Minister of Family and Social Affairs of Turkey, reported that more than 225,000 Syrian children were born in Turkey between January 2014 and July 2017.
Kaya said at the opening of an orphanage center in a refugee camp in Şanlıurfa Province, near the borders with Syria, that she hopes peace will prevail throughout the region and that everyone can live a decent life.
There were approximately 508,000 Syrian children attending school in Turkey, while the Turkish Government continued to provide social, psychological and medical assistance to Syrian refugees.
The latest statistics by the UNHCR reports that 3.1 million Syrian refugees have fled to Turkey since the outbreak of the Syrian uprising in 2011.
