According to local sources, the security branches of the regime at the border crossings and at the airport, demanded pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia to review the security branch known as the Palestine Branch, one of the cruelest branches, noting that they were asked men to attend in person to the branch only, and only women's passports without their presence.
The reason for this is that the Syrian pilgrims began started last year to sign up for the Hajj by the Supreme Hajj Committee of the Syrian opposition, after Saudi Arabia withdrew this file from the regime and granted it to the opposition.
The Syrian Higher Hajj Committee reported that 15 thousand Syrian pilgrims participated in the Hajj season of 2017, 6500 of them coming from Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt and the Gulf States, 4500 coming from the areas controlled by the opposition, and 4000 areas under the control of the regime.
