- "Look What We've Done With this Refugee" Lebanese Government Employees assaulted a Syrian Refugee


A Syrian refugee in Lebanon was beaten and assaulted by members of the Lebanese Shakka local governate near Tarblus province on Wednesday.

According to Lebanese media sources, elements of the local governate of Shakka drove the Syrian refugee Mohammed Jamal and took him by car, thinking that they would take him to the governate building, but they took him to another place was inhabited by civilians and started beating and insulting him in his with verbal abuse, according to the Syrian refugee testimony.

"They shaved my hair and started beating me with a belt. They beat me and released me after filming and sending the clips to their friends.”

This incident is not the first of its kind, as many Syrian refugees were subjected to a campaign of defamation, incitement, and harassment, amid calls from locals to expel them and force them to return home, under the pretext of narrowing the Lebanese lands.
