- UN Security Council Officials Visit Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Exhibit On Atrocities In Syria

- #Washington : The U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley and several UN Security council officials visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. in the annual anniversary for the #Holocaust.

The officials paid their respects to the victims of the Holocaust and learned about the museum’s work on the study of genocide and atrocity prevention, according to a statement released by the United States mission to the United Nations.

The statement added that the officials visited the special exhibit that focuses on Assad regime’s arbitrary detention and torture of more than 100,000 Syrian civilians since the country’s civil war began.

The U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley said “We must always remember the victims of genocide and honor their memory. And we must stand against the atrocities of today. Sadly, arbitrary detention, torture, and forced disappearance are some of many atrocities the brutal #Assad regime is committing against its own people. The international community – including and especially the Security Council – must take a stand against the regime and use all available tools to help the #Syrian people,”

Mansour Al-Omary, co-founder of the Syrian exhibit in the U.S. Holocaust museum said during an interview with Qasioun News Agency that “Syrian people representatives should put the file of detainees at the beginning of any negotiations with Assad regime and his Russian protector”

He said “The crisis is not only with the 100,000 detainees or forcibly disappeared, but with their families too” asserting that declining millions of Syrians from the negotiations equation is terrible mistake and won’t represent those millions and their continuous suffer, in addition to their refusal to any political solution”

Al-Omary commented on the Syrian National dialogue held in Russia’s Sochi, he said “Sochi pioneers should visit the Syrian exhibition here to watch Assad regime’s crimes which is covered by the Russian regime, before they put their hands in the hands of the war criminals”

Al-Omary commented on the U.S. support to Syrian crisis, he said “U.S. offering support to humanitarian cases in Syria, but the absence of American presence in the Syrian political case leave the Syrian people as a prey for dictator and sectarian regime such as those in Russia and Iran”
