- Turkey and UNHCR Launches Project to Return 100,000 Refugee to Syria

Agencies (IRW) - The Ministry of Family and Social Affairs of Turkey announced on Tuesday the launch of a project in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which aims to return 100 thousand Syrian refugees to their country until the end of the year.

According to Turkish media sources, the project aims to create the necessary conditions for the return of 100 thousand people to the Syrian city of al-Bab, where they will open shops and furnaces and will provide drinking water and qualified schools and hospitals.

Hurriyet Turkish newspaper said that «the Turkish forces were able in the operation of the Euphrates Shield implemented in northern #Syria, to clear at least two thousand square kilometers from #ISIS, which contributed to the return of 70 thousand Syrian refugees to their homes».

It is noteworthy that the latest statistics reported by UNHCR that 3.1 million registered Syrian refugees have fled to Turkey since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in 2011.
